Supervision is literally the act of ’seeing over the activities of others’. In today’s business, the supervisor or team leader is the main link between the organization’s goals and the people who are responsible for making those goals a reality. It is obvious that good supervisors and team leaders are key to the success of any organization.
As critical as this position is to the success of any organization, one would think that training and development of supervisors and team leaders would be a priority for every company. Unfortunately, that is most often not the case. Super-workers are promoted and expected to magically possess the skills to lead their teams to instant productivity. In most instances, this sets them up for failure.

Better than 50% of a supervisor or team leader’s time is spent managing people. To be effective in this role, it is important that the individual develop the skills necessary to effectively communicate and to maximize productivity.
